Due to the variable and at times unsafe conditions of south coast beaches, visitors are urged to swim between the flags at patrolled beaches.
Visitors are also encouraged to talk to the surf lifesavers about the location of beaches appropriate to their level of competency.

Scenic beach front picnic spots and free electric bbqs are at Mussel Rock and Erewhon Point and Red Rocks. Public toilets are on the esplanade at the end of Thompson Avenue

Every year from the 26th December to the 26th January Amusement Services Australia operates the Island Summer Carnival at Cowes.
All the big rides are here including the: Spaceroller, Starship, Kamikaze & Midnight Madness!
We also have a brilliant selection of Fairground and Activity Games and we always invite 3rd party attractions such as: Animals on the Move, Snake Handlers, The Mini FX Team, & for the grand finale, Australia Day Fireworks.

There is also a boat ramp at Newhaven.
Remember you need a license to Western Port Bay fish and check on bag limits and minimum size of different species

Good fishing for the kids and adults off the island jetties at Cowes, Rhyll, Newhaven and San Remo at any time of the day but best a few hours either side of the tide.

Remember, whether you are freshwater, estuary or saltwater fishing you need to have a current licence obtainable from most good fishing outlets
