General Information

George Bass discovered Phillip Island in January 1798, ten years after the first fleet arrived in Sydney. He named the island after CAPTAIN Arthur Phillip, the first governor.

Phillip Island 120 kilometers south-east of Melbourne (90 minutes) is situated at the entrance to Westernport Bay.

The magnificent 100 kilometer coastline transforms from massive rocky outcrops to sheltered golden beaches with the main family beach located on the Esplanade at the bottom of the main street.
