90 Mile Beach
Travelling the coast stop and visit the Golden Sands of the 90 Mile Beach via the townships of Loch Sport, Golden Beach, Paradise Beach, Seaspray and Woodside Beach, these coastal towns can be accessed via the South Gippsland Highway at Yarram or via the Princes Highway (A1) at Sale.
One of the longest, straightest, most unpopulated beaches in the world today, it's white sands stretch from Woodside at the western end to Lake Tyers in the east, a distance of approximately 90 miles (144 kilometres).
In summer its a delight, the incredible blue of the sea and sky contrasting with the white sands. Holiday makers and fishermen are discovering this part of the world in droves as your hand is not in your pocket every other minute - like a lot of the more recognised destinations.
The roads in and around this district incorporate the "90 Mile Beach Wildlife Trail" and the "Wildlife Coast Nature Track" which enables you to catch a glimpse of our watery friends the whales, dolphins and seals.
The diversity of accommodation caters for all from luxury cabins, cottages, B&B's, motels, game resorts, holiday homes and caravan/camping parks nestled amongst the sand dunes of the fabulous stretch of coastline.
The area is surrounded by Coastal Parks and is the gateway to the Lakes National Park and Rotamah Island (bird observatory) with easy access to the Gippsland Lakes System a mecca for the bushwalker and angler (surf and lake).
Other activities include golf, bowls, tennis, horse riding, water skiing, swimming (surf or lake), bike riding, or just kick back and relax and enjoy these majestic surrounds.
Woodside
Small friendly town on the South Gippsland Highway some 15ks from Yarram, facilities include a hotel and motel (on highway) general store, petrol/gas fishing information. 10ks to Woodside Beach, right on the beach is the Woodside Beach Holiday Park part of the Motor Village Group. Public toilets, Electric BBQ's, toilets etc. The beach is patrolled in summer.
Seaspray
Is a popular seaside resort (patrolled beach in summer) with excellent fishing all year round in the surf or creek. Bait, tackle and ice are available. There is a licensed general store, petrol, take-away food and a caravan park which allows for beachside camping. BBQ's and playgrounds for the daytripper. Very popular holiday destination for people in and around the Sale area.
Golden Beach
Noted for great surf fishing which attracts fishermen from all over the state the. Golden Beach's licensed store provides info as well as all requirements. There is a variety of accommodation available, including B&Bs and cottages, and camping along the beach dunes is also permitted. BBQ's, public toilets etc.
Loch Sport
Wildlife abounds in Loch Sport. Kangaroos graze on the golf course and around town. Rainbow Lorikeets and Pelicans are prolific, with frequent visits from inquisitive Dolphins. Accommodation is plentiful but it is a good idea to book especially during the main holiday periods. The Marina Hotel is open 7 days a week for meals, coffee shops, bakeries and take-aways are also popular.
The modern marina provides sheltered moorings in all wind directions and has public visitor berths. Holiday activities are numerous pick up a calendar from any of the shops. Art and Craft galleries are dotted through the town and there is plenty to see and do apart from the obvious water activities.
