There is much to see and do in Lakes Entrance. The Summer Carnival runs from mid December to end January The Shell Museum is one of Australia's largest museums of Natural Sealife Visit the new Aqua Park on the other side of the footbridge. Visit spectacular Buchan Caves (50 minute drive from Lakes Entrance). Have a hit of tennis at the Aquadome, or a game of bowls at the Bowling Club. Cruise the Gippsland Lakes or Hire A Boat from Charlie at Blue Riviera and explore the North Arm, nothing like it on a summers day. The Aboriginal Art Gallery is located at Forestec a couple of kilometres on the Melbourne side of town, well worth your time and there is no admittance charge. Nyerimilang Heritage Park perfect for that family picnic and the homestead is set on a cliff top overlooking the Gippsland Lakes. Lakes Entrance Helicopters is an experience to remember, see the iconic Gippsland Lakes from above. Ask about their packaged Heli experiences.
Chants Lakes Entrance Summer Carnival
The Esplanade Lakes Entrance VIC 3909Mid December and January Summer Holidays on the Esplanade foreshore 6pm nightly (weather permitting). Bring the family, rides galore including the 'Nitro Caster' roller coaster, jumping castles, carousel, dodgem cars, ferris wheel, side shows and much, much more. Great Holiday Fun!
Beach & Surf
The main beach is located across the footbridge and is patrolled during school and public holidays, however, it is a good idea to keep an eye on the kids as there is often an under tow. The other popular beach is opposite Eastern Beach Caravan Park once again exercise care. Lakes Tyers beach opposite the hotel is also popular with families.
Buchan Caves

Discover an underground wonderland of spectacular limestone formations at Gippsland's ancient Buchan Caves. The caves were created almost 400 million years ago by underground rivers cutting through limestone rock. Professionally guided tours daily (except Christmas Day). Recognised as one of Victoria's best natural attractions. Walking tracks, picnic areas, camping and glamping available.
Kalimna Lookout
Stroll along Jemmy's Point Hill walking track to the lookout at the top of Kalimna. Plenty of places to stop and admire the views. When you reach the top, spectacular views of the Lakes system and the ninety mile beach await and you may come across a local artist capturing the scene on canvas.

Nyerimilang Heritage Park-Free Admittance
Kalimna West Road Lakes Entrance VIC 3909Magnificent views and a rich variety of plant and birdlife are some of this Gippsland parks attractions. The highlight is Nyerimilang Homestead in a delightful garden setting on a cliff top above the beautiful Gippsland Lakes.
Perfect picnic spots are surrounded by garden and scenic walks along bush and farm tracks.
Nyerimilang Heritage Park is 10kms from Lakes Entrance via Kalimna West Road. Open 7 days. Entrance is free but donations are accepted to help maintain the park.

If you get into trouble in the water, stay calm. Signal for help, then float and wait for assistance
Float with a current or undertow. Do not try to swim against it.
When out on the water always wear the correct safety equipment.
