Swan Reach
Swan Reach is synonymous with the Tambo River and Bream fishing at one stage there was an 11lb Flathead in a glass case hanging in the bar of the pub until someone took a fancy to it. The Flatty was caught many years ago just below the pub where fishing platforms are provided, the jetty is also very popular. There are probably some whoppers waiting for you even today.
Accommodation is available at the Hotel/Motel. Lunch is available Thursday to Sunday with Dinner every night except Monday. Call in and have a beer with Licensee Marcel, he will make you welcome and might even tell you where to catch a fish. The Hotel also has TAB.
Accommodation is also available at The Tourist Parks, both have modern cottages, camping both powered and unpowered sites. Caravan Vans welcome. A nice peaceful place to drop anchor for a couple of days.
Over the bridge on the right is the turnoff to Metung, (15 minutes) there is a good little picnic spot just over the bridge and you can drop a line in and try your luck.
From Swan Reach you are only 20 minutes to Lakes Entrance so why not make this your base to explore the surrounding Farm Food and Wine Trail. |
