San Remo VIC San Remo, 120 kilometres from Melbourne is situated on Western Port Bay and is the gateway to Phillip Island which is accessed by bridge. For the holiday maker there are numerous activities in and around San Remo to make your stay a memorable one. There is a sheltered beach at the back of town and great surfing can be found at Griffiths Point. The jetty area is always alive with visitors who flock to the town to witness the feeding of the Pelicans who line up for their free lunch of fish scraps every day at 12 noon.
French Island VIC 3921 Close to Melbourne, but in many ways worlds apart, French Island which is twice the size of Phillip Island two thirds being National Park is only 65 kilometers from Melbourne, yet is still a mystery to many Victorians who know little - if anything - about this intriguing Western Port island.
It is the only unincorporated territory in Victoria, meaning no shire, no rates, no access, except by boat. It has a permanent population of about 100 people who are mostly into farming and/or tourism. The French Island people are self regulating, have dirt roads and take life a little slower.
Inter Island Ferries travel to French Island from Stony Point and Phillip Island.
Rhyll VIC 3923 The picturesque village of Rhyll situated on beautiful Swan Bay north-east of Phillip Island has always been a haven for boating and fishing with an excellent all tides boat ramp, 2 jetties, yacht club, angling club and sailing school. Today the town is a much sought after holiday destination with a full range of accommodation. Complimenting the quality accommodation is the fully licensed Foreshore Bar and Grill offering 180 degree water views in a warm and relaxing atmosphere, Hire a Boat and head out into the bay with the anticipation of catching the big snapper.
