Warrnambool the largest city on the Great Ocean Road with a permanent population of approximately 33,000 overlooks the sheltered beaches of Lady Bay and is one of the fastest growing regional cities in Victoria.

The moderate climate appeals to visitors and the permanent population who make this city their home. Summer temperatures rarely get too hot, while in winter the temperature is bearable although it does tend to get a bit windy at times.

With the new bypass around Geelong Warrnambool is less than 3 hours south-west of Melbourne 263 kms via the A1or 6 hours via the Great Ocean Road.

No visit to Warrnambool is complete without a visit to the State Heritage listed Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village set on 10acres and winner of the 2007-2008 State Tourism Award. The village reflects the pioneering atmosphere of an 1870’s coastal port. Explore the shipwreck history of Warrnambool and the Great Ocean Road. See the 1859 lighthouse and do not miss the world class Shipwrecked…a breathtaking world class sound and laser show.

Whale Watching

Almost every year between June and September female Southern Right Whales return from Antartic waters to Warrnambool’s Logan Beach to calve. The whales can regularly be observed from the viewing platform provided.

The Warrnambool Racing Club is country Victoria’s leading racing club, playing host to 20 days of racing throughout the year including the famous May Racing Carnival  the highlight of which is the Grand Annual Steeplechase. Visitors from all over Australia and the world flock to “The Bool” for this week of racing- Great for the towns economy!
