Read and obey the signs
Be careful where you dive accidents often result from diving into shallow waters.
Be aware of slippery banks and rocks when fishing
Dont swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Always swim under supervision
If you get into trouble in the water, stay calm. Signal for help, then float and wait for assistance
Float with a current or undertow. Dont try to swim against it.
When out on the water always wear the correct safety equipment. |

| Approx 45 minutes fron Cann River. Start at the Thurra River Camp Ground approx 4kms 2 hours return. Souring sand dunes that tower 30metres above the Thurra River can be reached by a track winding to their summit through coastal banksias and heathland. Make sure you can retrace your steps back to camp. |

Remote Point Hicks approx 50kms from Cann River was the first part of the Australian mainland, eastern seaboard to be seen by Captain Cook in 1770. The lighthouse complex built in 1890 has an imposing concrete tower and two timber and stone residences. A feature of the tower is its cast iron spiral staircase. Spectacular 360 degree coastal views from the top. |
